This call is for anticipated board vacancies in 2026 and beyond.
Board Mandate
The Gander International Airport Authority (GIAA) Board of Directors ensures sound oversight of the Authority’s business, sets standards for performance and conduct through the CEO, and champions the long-term success of YQX for the Central Newfoundland region. Directors attend six annual board meetings and are expected to serve on at least one committee.
Board Composition
Up to 13 directors are appointed by municipal, provincial and federal partners, regional Chambers of Commerce, and the GIAA itself.

Eligibility Requirements
Directors must:
1. Be Canadian citizens aged 18 and over.
2. Meet conflict-of-interest and code-of-conduct provisions in GIAA bylaws.
3. Not hold elected office or full-time federal, provincial or municipal government employment, or be employed full-time by any nominating body.
4. Have no unpardoned criminal convictions and not be bankrupt (record check required).
5. Reside in the Central Newfoundland catchment area, the region between Buchans, west to the Bonavista Peninsula and south to the Coast of Bays.
